Francis Marion Burris, Jr. ?Jr.? age 92, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Ambassador Manor in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jr. was born June 14, 1919 in Moreland, Arkansas to Francis Marion Burris and Dorothy (Taylor) Burris. Jr. married Marveloie Ann Simpson on December 14, 1940. During Jr.s? life time he was a truck driver and the owner of Burris Brothers Construction Company. He also worked as an inspector for FHA. He donated his time and energy towards doing rodeos for handicapped children at Hissom Institute and for the young men at the Rader Center. While settling into his golden years he maintained his own property in Glenpool, Oklahoma until three years ago when the City of Glenpool purchased it to build the Glenpool Public Safety Complex. In honor of Jr. they named the entry road to the complex ?Junior Burris Boulevard.? He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Dorothy, his loving wife Marveloie, son, Johnny Darrell, daughter, Betty June (Burris) Covington and his eight brothers. He is survived by his brother, John P. Burris and his wife Cathy of Oklahoma City, sister, Beverly Ann Jones and her husband Gene of Tulsa, grandson Jimmy D. Barrett and his wife Vickie of Tulsa, grandson Danny R. Barrett and his wife Debbie of Mounds, great-grandson, Chase Barrett of Skiatook and great-granddaughters Danielle Barrett of Skiatook and Marissa Barrett of Tulsa, along with other family members, many friends and acquaintances. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Schaudt?s Funeral Service in Glenpool Oklahoma. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Mounds, 101 East 14th Street, Mounds, Oklahoma, with Reverend Dick Knox officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mounds, Oklahoma. Pallbearers are: John Burris, Jimmy Barrett, Danny Barrett, Chase Barrett, Wayne Ramey and J.L. Weathers. Honorary pallbearers are: Marty Barrett and Duke Barrett. Arrangements were entrusted to Daniel C. Schaudt of Schaudt?s Funeral Service &Cremation Care.
